The local derby vs Wing got off to a very attacking start, especially by Stewkley, who had a few early chances to take the lead. The first 10 minutes, however, was extremely end-to-end with both sides looking like scoring. The breakthrough did come to Stewkley around 15-20 minutes into the first half with Rory taking a quick throw-in to Niall, who laid it into Simon, who scored from 20 yards into the top right corner. This goal set the scene for the game as Stewkley spent the majority of the first half on top, with Simon adding Stewkley's and his second of the game after a shot off the post by Ewan found its way back to Simon to tap it home.
Half Time: 2-0
Wing started the second half much stronger than Stewkley, but some good defending prevented them from getting a goal back. Jack Howe's return to the side saw him come off the bench and instantly make an impact as he fired an early shot against the crossbar from a tight angle. The third goal was added by Niall after some good feet in the box to lost his defender and slot it home. One of Wing's substitutes then got a straight red card, deservedly too, for retaliating to a foul on him by kicking out. This changed the mood of the game slightly but both sides carried on in the right spirit and didn't let the aggression spread to other players on the pitch, which was good to see. The final goal was scored by Jack as Stu played a good ball down the line to him, who beat his defender and slotted it into the corner of the net. A very good game played by two very good sides.
