Stewkley led this encounter after leading the game for almost an hour, following Graham Sturdy's great strike from 20 yards.
There was constant Lavendon pressure on the Stewkley goal, but the defence held their nerve to half time.
The second half started in the manner that the first finished, with Lavendon putting pressure on the Stewkley goal and after an hour they were back in the game following poor marking from a corner.
Two more sloppy goals from Stewkley's behalf followed and keeper Steven Willis will hold his hands up for both, despite a clinical finish for Lavendon's third.
Stewkley still had a few chances to get back into the game, but it is fair that they will not come up against many better sides this season, although the second half performance could have had a little more fight!
It is a little shame that we have to come to tiny mindness, but after reading the match report on the Lavendon website and derogatory comments about some of the Stewkley players, I thought we would get a little childish and add our own!! Can we comment on the human 'voice' that was the Lavendon keeper, he had more chops than a butchers shop and not a lot to back it up!! Or maybe even the weasel looking, penfold lookalike that calls himself their manager! I presume he was always the last to be picked in the pick your own players school teams!
As for the 'once in a lifetime strike' from the Stewkley striker, you should watch him a little more often as that is a regular thing!!
Good team, but shame about the arrogance that surrounds the 'we're better than you' mentality!!
