THE WAIT IS OVER – THE LEAGUE TITLE IS BACK IN STEWKLEY AFTER 32 YEARS

Stewkley Football Club17 May - 16:00

Here's a season review from First Team manager, Max Budgen:

Max Budgen
- First Team Manager

It’s been quite the turnaround for Stewkley’s first team this season. A ninth placed relegation battle last year, to being crowned League champions on the final day of the season last Saturday!

The first team led by Nick Howard and Max Budgen have amassed a superb 18 wins, 1 draw and 3 losses across the season, which saw them take the title with an impressive 55 points. The biggest points tally the North Bucks has seen for almost a decade! It’s also the first time the senior section has tasted league title success for 32 years.

They headed into the final game trailing MK United by 1 point and had to beat fifth placed Willen to land the league title. A huge crowd from the village came out to support the team on the sunny Saturday afternoon and they witnessed a fantastic performance from the boys in yellow and black. Goals from Waldram, Okolie & Whittemore sealed a comfortable 3-0 victory to ensure they lifted the trophy in front of their local supporters.

Across the season the lads boasted the meanest defense in the league, shipping just 23 goals all campaign and netting 63 at the other end. Spearheaded by Pat Okolie who bagged 17 and finished as Stewkley’s top goalscorer.

It capped off a brilliant season for the First Team with a League and [Oving] Cup double and they’ll be back looking to emulate this year's trophy haul in August, for the 25/26 campaign.
