It was back-to-back Oving Cup finals for Stewkley as they went to Oving in a highly anticipated fixture vs Aston Clinton Sports, who play at Step 7 in the Hellenic League.
Following a fairly tense start from both teams, it was Stewkley who opened the scoring through a goal from striker, Xav Kirchin who tapped in at the back post.
Aston Clinton then applied some pressure for an equaliser, which eventually came early in the second half following a mistake in the backline, allowing their forward with an empty net to finish.
It wasn't long before a Stewkley reply as they kept knocking on the door for a winner, this constant pressure on the Aston Clinton defence was causing some desperate defending, which led to a red card for Aston Clinton with about 20 minutes to play. This allowed Stewkley to continue applying the pressure, when a brilliant move from Stewkley found captain, Sam Budgen, through on goal who slotted home the winner.
